THE HESS COLLECTION

We are currently open by appointment only while we make repairs to our visitors center which sustained limited damage due to August 24th's 6.1 earthquake. Wine tastings however, are being offered in some lovely areas around our scenic property. Some areas of our facility may be inaccessible during your visit. You may make a reservation, taste some wine and have a visit with us. We have quite a story to tell! Reservations can be made here or by calling 707.255.1144.

Our museum and tasting room is under construction May - August, to repair damage caused by the Napa Earthquake. While wine tasting will remain uninterrupted, parts of the art collection will be in storage at various times until July. We will continue to maintain an elevated experience, as much as possible during construction and will keep portions of the art collection open for viewing.

Please call our Visitor Center at (707)255-1144 to inquire about the status of the exhibit, as well as wine tours and tasting.

The Hess Collection was founded by Swiss entrepreneur Donald Hess, who first purchased vineyards on Mount Veeder in 1978. The winery is best known for its flagship Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines, and single vineyard designates from our estate vineyards in Napa Valley. A leader in sustainable practices, The Hess Collection adheres to founder Donald Hess’ philosophy: “Nurture the land; return what you take.”

Located in the historic stone winery originally constructed in 1903 by Colonel Theodore Gier, the winery first opened to the public in 1989. It since has earned international recognition for its wine, culinary and visitor programs, and provides free public access to Donald Hess’ extensive private contemporary Art Museum.
